Indulge in the essence of history and nature with Vathimi Raja —a oudh oil that captures the spirit of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, its cultural significance, and the enchanting allure of one of nature’s finest gifts.
Vathimi Raja – The Legendary Ruler
Experience the rich heritage and captivating aroma of Vathimi Raja, our premium Walla Patta oudh oil that pays homage to the first Muslim ruler of Sri Lanka, Vathimi Raja. This exquisite oudh oil is derived from the highly esteemed Aquilaria Gyrinops species, locally known as Walla Patta, revered for its unique resinous qualities and aromatic profile.
Vathimi Raja, who ruled during the early 14th century, is a significant figure in Sri Lankan history, known for his leadership and contributions to the cultural and economic landscape of the region. By naming this remarkable oudh oil after him, we celebrate not only the legacy of a pioneer leader but also the rich traditions of the Sri Lankan Muslim community. The use of oudh in Sri Lanka has deep historical roots, extending back centuries when it was treasured for its aromatic and medicinal properties, often used in religious and cultural practices.
Vathimi Raja unveils a complex bouquet of enchanting scents that tell a story of nature’s artistry. On the first inhale, one is greeted with warm and deep oceanic notes, a symphony of tropical mangoes with oceanic breeze. Follwed by woody notes then joined by subtle hints of sweet powdery resin. As the fragrance unfolds, layers of oudyness and floral nuances emerge, intertwining to create a truly harmonious and immersive experience. Its long-lasting scent lingers beautifully on the skin, evoking a sense of tranquility and refinement.
The Walla Patta tree is native to the moist, tropical forests of Sri Lanka, with its highly sought-after resin being a rare and precious commodity. The process of distilling Vathimi Raja was long and labor-intensive. Getting Walla Patta out of Sri Lanka is no easy task, then bringing it all the way to Australia, it requires a lot of patience to say the least. Distilled in copper, and aged for 2 years.

OUDH FACTS
When used in a perfume composition, Oud is most often a base note, which tends to remain on the skin long after the others dissipate. Since they form the perfume’s foundation, base notes are very rich, heavy and long-lasting (up to six hours and more). They serve to enhance the scent of other ingredients; and, in some cases, they impart a fragrance all their own. While most wood notes are known for their earthy qualities, Oud provides a pleasant sweet scent and is often featured in a synthetic version because it is so costly to harvest.
The fragrance of middle eastern royalty, natural, niche and luxury.

I absolutely did not expect how high pitched the top notes of this would be based on the color of the oil. Even through the cap it smelled like it’d be on the funkier side of oud, but as soon as I smelled the dip stick I immediately seen a crystal clear blue ocean. Yes, I seen the Silani blue from the dip stick.
The oil starts kind of quiet and ethereal, but after warming up on the skin for a minute it starts singing like a choir.
It has everything you’d want from a Silani: oceanic (without salt), mangoes, flowers, and oud resin. But what struck me was this sense of familiarity that brought with it an olfactory induced nostalgia. Suddenly I was a kid again, playing in a sprinkler on a hot summer day. The smell of garden hose water dispersed in the air, grass and flowers kicked up from kids playing, a tray of fruit and pouches of capri suns on the picnic table, and not a care in the world.
A really wild experience. I can’t wait to try the wood used in the distillation that came with it!
