CEEN II

Some years back we released Ceen, one of the first Chinese oudhs we released and it was a immediate hit. Loved by many and even today collectors are still chasing a bottle of Ceen. It is regularly discussed in oudh circles as the oudh “I missed out on”. We distilled Ceen from Hainan oudh, Ceen II on the other hand is distilled from Guangdong oudh.

Why did we decide to distilled Ceen II from Guangdong oudh?

The story goes like this, when we were distilling Ceen a local trader told us something that stuck to the back of my mind “Guangdong oudh is very similar to Hainan”. He couldnt make sense why we were so keen that the wood has to be from Hainan.

Fast forward a few years and we decided to do exactly that, cook Guangdong oudh in the same way we cooked Ceen. For Ceen II the hunters went deep into the old growth jungles of Guangdong, the hunters brought out something astounding and beautiful. There was no easy way to get this batch of wood out. Instead of risking the batch, we  decided to partner with a local old Chinese uncle to cook this wild wood for us in Guangdong. With our design and distillation parameters we distilled the most intricate, mind-boggling and multi-faceted wild Chinese oudh, not from Hainan but Guangdong.

I know there is a whole bunch of both wood and oil that is being sold as Hainan oudh, but that they are from Guangdong. I love oudh without discrimination by place, when I smell Ceen II I cant understand why this region is not more celebrated, this is beautiful and sophisticated bliss.

Ceen refers to China in Arabic and is very much a fine representation of the beautifully detailed and complex Chinese landscape and culture.

The story of Ceen II Chinese oudh distilled by a Chinese uncle, utilising trademark traditional methods that have been used for decades in extracting herbal oils for Medicinal Purposes in the far east. The oil is pristine, it is immaculate, pollen, honey, freshly cut trees, oriental resin, oudhyness.

Aged for 2 years, Ceen II is an Oil with clear distinct scents celebrating the many terrains and scents of China –  floral fields, herbal medicines, breezing cinnamon into bunches of mint, the rich soil of Guangdong with its sweet dampness settling into a camphoric honey woodiness.
