Just as an untrained palate cannot immediately appreciate the complexities of a grand cru chocolate or Michelin star dish, a nose encountering natural Oud for the first time is often unable to perceive the intricate layers that experienced enthusiasts cherish. The objective is never simply to smell Oud it is to develop the ability to understand it.

This philosophy has defined Al Shareef Oudh from the very beginning.

Rather than encouraging customers to purchase indiscriminately, we take the time to understand their fragrance experience, their scent preferences, and how their senses naturally respond to aromatic materials. From there, we recommend an Oud that allows their nose to develop progressively.

Each oil represents a distinct geographical origin, showcasing the remarkable diversity that makes natural Oud one of the world’s most fascinating aromatic treasures.

Every vial contains 0.2 grams of pure Oud oil more than enough to wear repeatedly, compare, revisit, and experience as your appreciation grows over time.

Vathimi Raja: Sri Lanka

Vathimi Raja’s scent tells a beautiful story. It opens with warm, deep oceanic notes mixed with hints of tropical mango and salty sea breeze. Soon after, woody tones rise, followed by soft, powdery resins. As it evolves, you’ll notice touches of floral and oudy layers blending into a smooth, relaxing finish. The scent stays on the skin for hours and creates a calm, elegant atmosphere.

Arakan: Burma

Opening with a mind-perplexing elusive note that weaves between ripen fruits or florals, it twists and turns making it very difficult to catch. I have worn this Oil numerous times to pin down this very note but I am still searching. It is like the bottom of white florals dare I say a sensual jasmine note, with the indolic touch and a top of ripe cherries and tamarind. There is a meditative feel with the sense of dark fruit bitterness and the calmness of mountains herbs, strong and clear. Clearly age plays a pivotal role based on how smooth the transitions are from slight ethereal top to the rich velvety heart and woody base. There is something unique about Ouds from high altitudes; they seem to have the grandeur and stoic nature of the mountains to support you.

Nusantara: Indonesia

Nusantara brings you ouds of this glory period, when you could distill double super and triple super wood, and not even worry. At the that time not many people considered that there would come a time, when double super and triple super would be treasured for incense, and hard to find. I consider myself from the lucky few to have been passed down the wisdom to save treasures for the future, to plan long term. The long-term planning allows me to now open some of those treasures for you. Nusantara being the first of these gems.

The breeze of resinous vapes is swiftly followed by deep dark molasses of oceanic nature, bitter yet cool. There is a gentle touch of nut meg and camphor that will give you brain freeze and put you in fragrant trance. Its intense, deep, rich powerful, it takes courage to take a deep whiff of Nusantara, it is intoxicatingly beautiful.

Siam: Thailand

SIAM is a wonderfully rich full-bodied Thai, it isn’t a pop drink with a tutti-Frutti like scent that many other Thai oils share nor does it have fruit jam notes, SIAM is a dense handful of lavish Egyptian blue lotus, water lilly, cherry blossom and camphor. SIAM is a flower garden but not blooming with top notes blossoming with rich and fulfilling heart notes.

CKR: Hainan China

Sumuw: Cambodia

Thick, succulent richness is tempered by the bitterness of dark cherries, Cuban cigars and the spicy dryness of cassia, the balsamic sweetness of popular buds, and a cooling eucalyptus trill. These unexpected elements add flair and depth to the usual Cambodian profile. Considering the lavish amplitude of the flamboyant opening, the dry down is stellar but gentle, a perfumer’s pillow of soft woods, touches of green leaves, dried herbs and dare I say a caress of white flowers.

Shah – India

SHAH is a model demonstration of wild Hindi Oud, deep and rich, with nothing airy or frivolous in sight. No off notes. SHAH is a wondrous orchestra of Oud that will allow you to appreciate exactly why Hindi Oudh is so revered worldwide. Deep dark cherries, tamarind and aged leather.

Liu Zhi – Southern Mainland China

Liu Zhi is a meditative oil, immediately relaxing you and bringing a cool blanket of comfort and serenity. The opening a soft kynamic apple floral note, coupled with a touch of the mind-freeze similar to the famous freeze of tiger balm but without the heavy notes. The middle notes provide an atmosphere before scent, the atmosphere is that of goodness,; bits of cinnamon not cassia, delicate and delightful, sprinkles of clove, green bamboo shoots, Chinese florals and the beginning of faint whiffs of sinensis on a heater. Then returns the wonderful Chinese florals, delicate, not sweet but delightfully pleasant, poetic, philosophical and scholarly.
