Product Description

Khumasi – The Fifth Element

There are moments in the craft of distillation where refinement alone is no longer the pursuit transcendence becomes the goal.

Al Ruba’ie was harmony. A quartet, balanced and complete.

Khumasi is its ascension.

In the Arabic language, Khumasi (الخُماسي) signifies a quintet five voices, five origins, five forces converging into a singular, unified expression. But here, the number is not merely symbolic. It is deliberate. It is architectural.

Because not all Oud is equal and not all origins speak the same language.

Khumasi brings together the finest expressions from five of the most revered and elusive Oud-producing regions on earth:

The mystical depth of Chinese Ky Nam; rare, commanding, and profoundly complex
The regal, time-honoured richness of India; warm, leathery, and steeped in tradition
The pristine, high-altitude purity of Bhutan; airy, refined, almost meditative
The smooth, spiritual elegance of Indonesia; ethereal and softly diffusive
The vibrant, honeyed spice of Thailand; radiant and subtly exotic

Five origins. Five distinct identities.

One composition.

As with all true works of the pot, Khumasi was not assembled it was born through process.

Over an extended period, we sourced only the most resin-saturated, character-rich materials from each region woods that spoke with clarity, depth, and authority. These were not selected for uniformity, but for contrast for the way each would challenge and elevate the other within the crucible of distillation.

The first distillation brought them together a controlled collision of geography, chemistry, and time. The oil that emerged was already formidable.

But this was only the beginning.

In a deliberate act of intensification, the oil was reintroduced into the apparatus and elevated further with the inclusion of rare Chinese Ky Nam not as an accent, but as a commanding force within the composition. The apparatus itself, seasoned with previous extractions and left unpurged, became an active participant in the transformation — carrying forward the memory of every resin that had passed through it.

What followed was not simply a second distillation but a deepening.

A convergence.

A refinement into something darker, fuller, more complete.

The final oil is profound a dense, lacquered darkness that borders on black. Viscous. Radiant. Alive with movement. It possesses a gravity that pulls the senses inward not overwhelming, but enveloping.

Aged and cured within our controlled chambers, Khumasi already bears the composure of an oil far beyond its years. The edges are dissolved. The transitions seamless. Every note arrives with intention and departs without disruption.

This is not blending.

This is orchestration by fire and copper.

The Fragrance

The opening is immediate, deep, and arresting a dark resinous accord with a subtle bitter-sweetness, underscored by the unmistakable signature of Ky Nam. There is a richness here that feels almost tactile dense yet luminous.

On skin, the oil expands in layers. Waves of warmth rise first spiced woods, aged resins, and a faint liqueur-like sweetness reminiscent of dark honey and antique woods. The Ky Nam presence reveals itself not loudly, but with authority threading through the composition with a mineralic, almost electric depth.

The heart unfolds with remarkable complexity: hints of incense, soft camphor, dried fruits, and a refined floral shadow never overt, but quietly present. The Indian and Thai elements lend body and warmth, while Bhutanese and Indonesian facets introduce lift, space, and breath.

As it settles, Khumasi reveals its true signature a deep, musky woodiness that is neither animalic nor sharp, but smooth, powdery, and enduring. A sweetness emerges, not sugary, but resinous and dignified echoing long after the initial application.

The Experience

Khumasi is not simply the successor to Al Ruba’ie it is its evolution.

Where the Quartet was harmony, the Quintet is dimension.

Five origins speaking not in unison, but in layered conversation each rising, receding, and returning in a continuous, living composition.

This is depth without heaviness. Power without aggression. Complexity without chaos.

Khumasi is for those who understand that the highest form of perfumery is not constructed it is revealed.

Five voices.

One essence.

Listen closely.
