When placing a tiny piece of SHAWQ on the white fluffy ash of the charcoal burner the initial waft is a wonderful mind bending floral scent, not rose, not jasmine but a dark blue lotus not immersed in ambergris, progressing into a deep ocean of amber resin with wisps of dark dry oudh wood that is resonating with resin. Add to that a few touches of Tobacco, some spices, and a faint tremor of freshly slashed herbs. Marrying intermittently with silky rich leather and the woodiness that is synonymous with the best of Hindi oudhs. These chips don’t smell like woods burning they are a complete perfumery experience. The beauty is you don’t need a lot of heat to the get these lovely chips to sing, in fact they enjoy the lighter heat. These chips have more oil than the woods you maybe used to, so the delicate notes are plenty and what a treat Shawq is.
