Teeb: A Scent from the Pious
Teeb is a solid perfume born from love – love for tradition, and love for what is pure and beautiful. This perfume is the result of years of research into Islamic sources, searching for every authentic narration and historical insight that connects fragrance to our sacred heritage. We then set out to source the finest of nature’s offerings, musk, aged ambergris from the ocean, wild oudh, and radiant rose and prepared them using the meticulous methods of classical Islamic perfumery: cleaning, compounding, blending, and ageing.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the best of examples in every matter, including his fragrant scent. He was known among his companions for his beautiful appearance and noble character—but also for his natural and distinct fragrance. Anas ibn Mālik رضي الله عنه said:
“I never smelled amber, musk, or anything more pleasant than the scent of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
(Muslim)
He ﷺ loved perfume and encouraged it, especially on Fridays. He said:
“Whoever bathes on Friday, perfects the purification, wears his best clothes, and applies from whatever perfume Allah has written for him, then goes to the masjid… Allah will forgive what lies between that Friday and the next.”
(Ṭabarānī)
This love for fragrance in our tradition is more than a custom – it is Sunnah, a prophetic practice.
A’ishah رضي الله عنها said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved perfume and encouraged its use.”
He ﷺ even had his own special blend of perfume. Anas reported:
“The Prophet ﷺ had a sikka (vessel of perfume) from which he used to apply fragrance.”
(Abu Dawud)
The Prophet ﷺ would wear musk and ambergris both rare and luxurious in their time. He said regarding musk:
“It is the best of perfumes.”
(Muslim)
And he taught:
“If someone offers you rayḥān (sweet basil or fragrant scent), do not reject it.”
(Ahmad)
Even during pilgrimage rituals, ‘Ā’ishah رضي الله عنها said:
“I used to perfume the Prophet ﷺ for his iḥrām and again before he performed ṭawāf, with a perfume containing musk. I can still see the gleam of the perfume on his hair.”
(Abu Dawud)
As Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله explained:
“Pleasant fragrance nourishes the soul, uplifts the heart, and brings joy to the spirit. There is nothing closer or more agreeable to the soul than beautiful scent and this is why it was one of the most beloved things to the best of all creation ﷺ.”
Through historical study and examination of the ingredients and methods available during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, we concluded that perfumes of that era were rich and resinous, often blended thick like honey, and included musk, ambergris, and natural oils.
Thus, with reverence and craft, we created Teeb—a faithful and elegant reimagining of the perfumes that might have graced the blessed hands of the Prophet ﷺ. Teeb is more than a scent; it is an experience of tradition, soul, and sanctity.

OUDH FACTS
When used in a perfume composition, Oud is most often a base note, which tends to remain on the skin long after the others dissipate. Since they form the perfume’s foundation, base notes are very rich, heavy and long-lasting (up to six hours and more). They serve to enhance the scent of other ingredients; and, in some cases, they impart a fragrance all their own. While most wood notes are known for their earthy qualities, Oud provides a pleasant sweet scent and is often featured in a synthetic version because it is so costly to harvest.
